MLB Pilates started with a question my husband asked me five years ago on a trip to Delaware to visit family. I will never forget the discussion initiated by his question, “What is your five year plan Marta?” Staring out the window I considered my most important job (being a Mommy to two children ages three and one), and my part-time job as personal trainer/group fitness instructor/mat pilates instructor. I fumbled through my kinesiology books (that I had intended to read on our trip for my master’s in exercise science class) and could not beleive I was saying my dream out loud—“I want to teach Pilates apparatus and mat and own a private studio”. By the time we had reached our destination….I knew how I wanted to instruct, I knew what type of equipment I wanted to use and where. I just needed to take control of my learning–I wanted a more in depth understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of Pilates. As I flipped through my Pilates Style magazine (knowing I still needed to read my kinesiology book), I found an interesting article/advertisement for an instructor’s class in Costa Mesa, California. I continued reading about The Body Arts and Sciene Institute and thought to myself–what a perfect match. It was on this day that MLB Pilates began–it just took 5 years to make it happen–can you believe it–I had actually met my deadline. I thank my husband for taking control of my “action” plan and teaching me how to control my time, my learning, and my five year plan.
I thank God for giving me the strength to make it through the last five years with ease and grace through much adversity and challenge that only made me stronger as a Mommy and a person. At the end of the day I know “he” is in control and I thank him for his wonderful gifts every day! It is a blessing and a gift to own MLB Pilates and I look forward to sharing my gifts with each of my clients every day!
